Rehabilitation Pilates for Allied Health Practitioners

What you will get

The course has been designed by Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Exercise Physiologists, and Myotherapists to cater to the need for excellence in working with clients in the pilates studio in a private practice setting. Below are a few bullet points of what you can expect to get out of the course:

A supportive learning experience. You will have access to educators via Slack messenger throughout the course.

An online portal that you will have access to forever that hosts learning modules and a video library of exercises for you to refer to.

The skills to critically think when assessing and prescribing exercises for your clients

The skills to manage pilates clients in this setting so to get great client outcomes,

Clinically relevant Pilates repertoire on the reformer, wunda chair, trapeze table, mat, and all the fun small toys in the studio. (Repertoire is taught with progressions, regressions, and clinical reasoning as to why you would change things for a client)

Pilates assessment skills, management, program writing, and teaching of clients through clinical case studies (common presentations we see in the clinic)

Communication skills to teach and manage a small group class

Program writing skills

Relate what you are teaching to relevant and informed research.

A thorough understanding of the journey of a client that is participating in pilates in an allied health setting.

An understanding of where pilates in the allied health space started and why clients might start doing this as part of their care.

This course is ideal for allied health students that may be in their final year of study or allied health practitioners in private practice who are wanting to add rehabilitation pilates into their career skill set, or who may have just begun teaching. The course is designed over four months and has a maximum of 14 participants so that each student feels fully supported throughout the course. We deliver the course using a mix of learning tools that include:

  • three weekends* face-to-face seminars
  • an online learning portal of pre-learning, quizzes, and a video library of rehabilitation pilates exercises (you will have lifetime access to this)
  • interactive webinars
  • case discussion with peers
  • observations or participation in rehabilitation pilates (this is self-directed and is a requirement you do a minimum of 2 hours per week over the duration of the course, 32 hours total)

To get the best out of this course we require that you show us that you have had some exposure to Pilates in a professional setting. We require proof of a total of 10 hours of observations or participation in clinical pilates classes. And you are an Allied Health Practitioner!
