Osteopathy in Kensington

Osteopathy looks at the whole picture, how one part of the body affects another, and why a problem keeps showing up even after the pain settles. At Move Beyond Kensington, our osteopaths use that whole-body view to get to what's actually driving your symptoms, not just where you feel them.

You might come to us with a sore back, a stiff neck, a hip that's been niggling for months, or something that's harder to put your finger on. Either way, we'll take a thorough history, assess how you move, and build a plan that combines hands-on treatment with the right rehab exercises to help you stay well between visits.

Treatment may include:

- Soft tissue massage and myofascial release

- Joint mobilisation and manipulation

- Dry needling

- Stretching and mobility work

I- ndividualised rehab and strength programs, including referral into Clinical Pilates or Clinical Strength where appropriate

Our goal isn't to keep you coming back forever. It's to help you recover, understand why the issue happened, and build the strength and movement habits that keep it from coming back.

Take the Tour

FAQs

Do I need a referral to see an osteopath?

No. You can book directly. A referral is only needed if you're claiming through a Medicare Chronic Disease Management plan, DVA, TAC or WorkCover.

What's the difference between an osteopath and a physiotherapist?

Both are university-qualified allied health practitioners and there's real crossover in what we treat. Osteopathy places particular emphasis on how different areas of the body relate to one another, and tends to combine more hands-on techniques with rehab. If you're not sure which is the better starting point for you, give the Kensington team a call and we'll point you in the right direction.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

A thorough history and physical assessment, hands-on treatment where appropriate, and a clear plan for what comes next. Most first appointments run 45 to 60 minutes.

Is osteopathy safe during pregnancy?

Yes, with appropriate modifications. Let us know when booking so we can match you with a practitioner experienced in pregnancy care.

Can osteopathy help with headaches?

Osteopaths frequently work with clients with headaches, particularly where the headache is linked to tension or restriction through the neck and upper back. We'll assess this as part of your first visit.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on how long the issue has been present and what's driving it. Some things settle in a couple of sessions, others benefit from an ongoing plan that includes strength and movement work. Your osteopath will talk you through realistic expectations early on.

How can I pay, and is it covered by private health?

We're a cashless clinic, payments via Visa or Mastercard. HICAPS is available on site for private health extras claims. Medicare rebates may apply under a GP-initiated Chronic Disease Management plan.

Where do I park?

On-street parking is available on Bellair Street (2 hour limit), at the Bellair Street and Macaulay Road junction (4 hours), and on McConnell Street (4 hours).
