Physiotherapy is a registered health profession that involves the assessment, diagnosis and management of a broad range of musculoskeletal, neurological and cardiorespiratory conditions. At our Windsor-Prahran clinic, our physiotherapists most commonly see clients with back and neck pain, sporting injuries, tendinopathies, joint conditions, pre- and post-surgical rehabilitation needs, and pregnancy-related musculoskeletal concerns.
This varies considerably depending on the nature of your presentation, your health history, your goals, and how you respond to treatment. Your physiotherapist will discuss a realistic timeframe with you at your initial appointment. Simple acute injuries may resolve across a small number of sessions, while longer-standing or complex conditions often require a more sustained treatment program.
Physiotherapists are trained to assess and manage chronic and persistent pain. Chronic pain is complex and often involves a range of contributing factors beyond the physical. Your physiotherapist will take a comprehensive approach that considers your full experience and develops a management plan that addresses both physical function and the broader context of your pain.
Physiotherapy can be appropriate for managing various musculoskeletal changes that occur during pregnancy, including pelvic girdle pain, low back pain, and hip discomfort. Our Windsor-Prahran team includes practitioners with an interest in pregnancy-related conditions. Please let us know when booking so we can match you with the most appropriate physiotherapist for your needs.CDM), however this must be in place and initiated by a GP before treatment commences.
You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for physiotherapy services under an Enhanced Primary Care (Chronic Disease Management) plan.
