Move Beyond Kensington's physiotherapy team is based right on Macaulay Road, a four minute walk from Kensington Station, and looks after clients from Kensington, Ascot Vale, Travancore, North Melbourne, West Melbourne and Essendon.
Whether you've tweaked something at the gym, you're carrying a niggle from years of running the Moonee Ponds Creek trail, or you're managing a longer-term issue that's been getting in the way, our physiotherapists start by understanding how you actually move and what you need your body to do. From there we build a plan, not just a single session.
Your first appointment includes a full assessment of the injury or issue, a look at how it fits into your broader movement patterns, and a clear plan for what happens next. Depending on what's going on, treatment might include:
- Hands-on manual therapy and joint mobilisation
- Exercise-based rehab, including options to progress into our Clinical Strength or Clinical Pilates classes
- Dry needling and soft tissue work
- Load and activity management advice for work, sport or training
- A home program so progress doesn't stop between sessions
We work as part of a shared care team here in Kensington, so if something outside physiotherapy would help (say, an Exercise Physiologist for a longer-term strength program, or an Osteopath's perspective on a stubborn issue) we'll say so and make the introduction ourselves.

Achilles, patella, shoulder and elbow tendon issues respond well to the right loading program, and getting that progression right is where physio makes the difference.Achilles, patella, shoulder and elbow tendon issues respond well to the right loading program, and getting that progression right is where physio makes the difference.
Common in Kensington's growing professional population working from home or hybrid. We help with both the immediate discomfort and the habits behind it.
Whether it came on suddenly or has been building for months, we look at what's driving it and build a plan around real movement, not just rest.
Working alongside our women's health team where needed, for pelvic girdle pain, return to exercise and everything in between.
Ankle rolls, muscle strains and joint sprains treated early and rehabbed properly so they don't become recurring problems.

FAQs
No referral is needed to book in. If you're being referred under a Medicare Chronic Disease Management plan, DVA, TAC or WorkCover, your GP or case manager will provide the referral paperwork, but you can book directly with us either way.
Comfortable clothing you can move in, any relevant scans or reports, and a list of medications if relevant. If you've seen another practitioner about the same issue, bringing their notes helps us pick up where they left off.
Initial appointments run for around 45 to 60 minutes so there's time for a proper assessment and to start building your plan together, not just a rushed five minute look.
Yes. A lot of what we see at Kensington is longer-standing issues where the goal is understanding what's actually driving the pain and building capacity, rather than a quick fix.
Most extras policies include physiotherapy. We have HICAPS on site so you can claim on the day.
On-street parking is available on Bellair Street (2 hour limit), at the Bellair Street and Macaulay Road junction (4 hours), and on McConnell Street (4 hours).
Kensington Station is about a 4 minute walk, with trains on the Craigieburn and Williamstown lines. Bus routes 402 and 404 stop directly on Macaulay Road.
If you're seeing more than one of our practitioners, or you'd like us to liaise with your GP or specialist, we're set up for that. It's part of how shared care works at Move Beyond.
