FAQs

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist in Chatswood?

No referral is needed for a private physiotherapy appointment at our Chatswood clinic on Freeman Road. You can book online or call us directly. If you wish to claim under a Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan for a chronic condition, your GP will need to arrange that referral before your first appointment. WorkCover, DVA and TAC do not require a referral.

What conditions do physiotherapists treat at the Chatswood clinic?

Our Chatswood physiotherapists commonly treat back and neck pain, sports injuries, joint pain and arthritis, post-surgical rehabilitation, headaches, nerve pain and pregnancy-related conditions. We also offer pelvic health physiotherapy, clinical Pilates, Onero bone health classes and exercise physiology at this location.

How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?

Every person and condition is different. At your initial Chatswood appointment, your physiotherapist will discuss a realistic timeline based on your specific situation — whether you're dealing with an acute injury, recovering from surgery or managing an ongoing condition. We never recommend more sessions than you need.

Can a physiotherapist help with chronic or long-term pain?

Yes. Our Chatswood team takes a broad, evidence-informed approach to persistent pain that considers physical, psychological and lifestyle factors. We take the time to understand your full health picture before recommending a course of care that works for your life — not just your symptoms.

Do you offer pelvic health physiotherapy at Chatswood?

Yes. Our Chatswood clinic has pelvic health physiotherapists with specialist training in women's and men's health concerns including incontinence, prolapse, pelvic pain, pregnancy and postpartum recovery. Consultations are discreet and private. Mention your concern when booking so we can allocate the right practitioner.

Can I claim physiotherapy through Medicare in Chatswood?

Standard physiotherapy appointments are not covered by Medicare. If you have a chronic condition and your GP refers you under an Enhanced Primary Care (Chronic Disease Management) plan, you may receive rebates on up to five allied health sessions per calendar year. Please arrange this with your GP before your appointment at our Chatswood clinic.

What is the difference between my initial and follow-up appointments?

Your initial appointment at Move Beyond Chatswood runs for 60 minutes and includes a thorough assessment, hands-on treatment and the creation of a personalised management plan. Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes — your physiotherapist will review progress, advance your treatment and adjust your program as needed.

What should I bring to my first appointment at Chatswood?

Please bring any relevant imaging (X-ray, MRI, ultrasound), referral letters from your GP or specialist, your health fund card for on-the-spot claiming, and any relevant claim numbers (WorkCover, TAC). Wear or bring comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows the physiotherapist to examine the area of concern.

Do you offer Onero bone health classes at Chatswood?

Yes, Move Beyond Chatswood offers Onero — an evidence-based clinical exercise program designed to build bone strength and reduce fracture risk in people with osteopenia or osteoporosis. Classes are led by accredited Exercise Physiologists. Contact the clinic or visit our Onero page for current class times.

Where is the Move Beyond Chatswood clinic, and is there parking?

We are located at 2/1A Freeman Road, Chatswood NSW 2067 — a short walk from Chatswood train station and the Metro Northwest interchange. There is ample on-street parking on Freeman Road, with 2-hour and daily bays available directly at the front of the clinic.

Do you see children and adolescents at the Chatswood clinic?

Yes, we see clients of all ages. Please let us know when booking that you are booking for a child or adolescent so we can match them with the most suitable practitioner at our Chatswood clinic.

What is a pre-pointe assessment and do you offer it at Chatswood?

A pre-pointe assessment evaluates a dancer's strength, flexibility and joint control to determine whether they are ready to progress safely to pointe work. Our Chatswood physiotherapist Sarah Silva has specialist experience in dance physiotherapy and pre-pointe assessments. Speak to the team to find out more or book directly.
